5th & Frolic Birthday Card

Here's a birthday card I made for my Mother-In-Law who celebrated her birthday yesterday.  I used paper from American Crafts, Dear Lizzy, 5th & Frolic 6 x 6 paper pad.

I love the papers with various patterns in small sections.  Just trim and layer for an easy cute birthday card.

Alora Rosette Wreath

I shared this wreath awhile back, but had to remove the post for a period as it was sent out for publication in Northridge publishing's Simply Handmade magazine.  I was so excited when I received the email requesting my wreath to be featured, it was my first time being published!

All the instructions for the wreath can be found in the March issue of Simply Handmade - Parties, but I'll share a quick tut with you here too.  I used the Tim Holtz rosette dies in large, medium and small and made a bunch in all different sizes, make extra so you have a good assortment to work with when creating your wreath.  Here I used 8 large, 8 medium and 8 small and layered them around a circle cut from chipboard.  I used a plate as my template, but any round shape will work.  Then I fussy cut the flowers to dangle in the center, 2 of each style, then add a brad to the center of all, attach a string in the middle and sandwich between the two sides of the flowers.  Attach to the chipboard base and dangle in the center.

Best Wishes Bendi Fold Card

I saw this awesome bendi fold card on splitcoaststampers.com no to long ago and I've really wanted to make one.  It's actually a fairly simple card to make if you follow the tutorial.  Here's my take on the bendi fold card.

The butterflies and grass are made with Martha Stewart punches.

The flourishes are a combination of pieces cut from two larger flourishes by ZVA.

I used my Cricut to cut the letters for Best Wishes.

I plan on making another of these with a tutorial of my own so check back soon.

Acrylic Anniversary Card

My husband and I recently celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary.  I usually wait until the last minute to make a card for him.  Such was the case this year. I'm really into acrylic right now and I've had these acrylic card bases from Close to my Heart for years.  So I've finally put them to use.

The card came with the scallop border, I ran the front of the card through my big shot with an embossing folder.

I used my circle spellbinders dies to cut the ring and add a 7 sticker for the number of years we were celebrating.

This card was so simple to make, and quick.

Supply list

Black With Two - August Challenge

I'm thrilled to be designing for this fun challenge site Black With Two!  If you are not familiar with the site, it offers a monthly challenge which features a dominant black background and a color pallet to create a layout or card from.  I've been having fun designing for them and hope you join in the fun.

August Challenge

Pallet: Dominant Black with Sunset Orange and Tropical Waters, plus 5% white

Here's my layout for August, I used some of my stash with papers from My Mind's Eye and Echo Park.  The stickers are also from Echo Park.  The flourishes are cut from a larger flourish and used in multiple spots.

Hope you join in and create a layout or card for the challenge.  Check out the Black With Two blog for more details.
