Cherry Blossoms

I love Cherry Blossoms, don't you? I've yet to see them down by our State Capitol, but I have seen some gorgeous photos taken when they are in bloom. You have to be quick though before they are gone.

I recently came across these awesome laser cut cherry blossoms from Unique Laser Designs and came up with a way to enjoy these blossoms all the time.

The best part about these is I can color the blossoms any way I want.  You could even go out a on limb and try an unconventional color for cherry blossoms.  For these I used a mix of gelatos to get the hue I desired.  I colored the branches and leaves with Spectrum Noir markers and used stickles for the flower centers.  I'll be entering this into the April challenge over on the Unique Laser Designs blog, you can check it out and enter one of your own creations for a chance to win.  Check out the details here, there's still time to enter, but hurry May is quickly approaching.

Tic Tac Toe

Hello! Today I wanted to share a simple game of tic tac toe.

Check out how easy it is to take this unfinished board game from Unique Laser Designs, to...

...This, a fun tic tac toe game board with vibrant color and sparkle.

The base and the grid come unattached so it's easy to color different colors.  I used twinkling H2O's for all the pieces, all different colors that really pop off each other and they all have a bit of sparkle to them.  Wouldn't this make a great gift.  Check out the tic tac toe board here and all the other awesome goodies from Unique Laser Designs here.

Happy Easter Basket

Hey All, today I wanted to share with you a fun Easter project and some exciting news.  I've been sitting on this news for a bit and am excited to share that I've been selected to be member of the Unique Laser Designs, design team.  ULD creates laser-cut craft items, made from MDF and chipboard.  They have amazing designs with intricate details cut from wood.  And, they smell amazing when you open the box.

I wanted to share my first project for Unique Laser Designs with you.

My inspiration for this project came from the adorable bunnies, they reminded me of those gold foil covered chocolate bunnies we used to get as kids.

This is what the ULD pieces look like unfinished.  I love how they look just like this, but they are fun to embellish too.

For the Happy Easter I first painted it with several coats of white acrylic paint.  Once dried I covered with glitter.

For the bunnies I simply covered them with glitter.

I made the paper basket by weaving strips of cardstock together and forming the basket.

Upcycled Easter Basket

As a Mom I'm always looking for new crafty things to do with my daughters.  I don't usually plan these ahead too well so I usually have to use what I have on hand.  With Easter quickly approaching I thought it would be fun to make an Easter theme craft.  We had some old 2 liter soda bottles that we had not recycled yet so we made Easter baskets out of the base and used pipe cleaners for the handles.  While they were creating I was inspired to create my own adult version of this upcycled project.

I trimmed the bottle to the height I wanted.  Cleaned the excess adhesive off the exterior with the Best Cleaner Ever.  I then covered the base with alternating colors of washi tape.  Then added some fun embellishments using the Best Glue Ever.  The handle is a pink pipe cleaner that is wrapped with ribbon.  For full details on how to create this fun project check out my post on the ScraPerfect blog.

April Challenge - You Are... Layout

Wow, April is here already!  Do you do anything fun on April Fools Day?  I don't, kind of boring that way.  Oh well, I do have something to share that isn't so boring.  The latest challenge is up over at Black With 2.  Last month BW2 had a record number of entries, and there were some truly amazing layouts shared.  I can't wait to see what everyone creates with April's challenge.

April Inspiration Board -

And here is my take on this challenge.

This is one of those layouts where I really felt that less was more.  I used a punch to create the circle doily shape from green cardstock.  I love how it pops off the black.  Notice how my journaling isn't perfect?  I often mess up my journaling, that may be why I don't like to include it.  I'm a terrible speller and I often mess up when I'm writing, plus I don't like my handwriting.  But, it is mine and it is part of what my layouts special to me and my family and part of the art that it is.  Don't be afraid to journal, even if you think you'll mess up.  The stories that go with the pictures are just as important to them memories.
